THE DESIGN

'Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood'

Beautiful Day In The Neighborhood depicts two young black girls on a sunny day in Philadelphia, drawing in chalk on the sidewalk with flowers throughout the background. One of the girls is bent over while she finishes writing "Stay Positive." The other girl is in standing in a bent-over pose with a smile on her face. This piece is composed with vibrant colors.

I was inspired to create this piece after witnessing a few girls in the neighborhood drawing positive messages with chalk on the sidewalk to brighten people's day. Since we are living in uncertain times and I felt like it was important to reinforce positivity and awareness.

Created outside of Coral Street Arts House in the Fishtown/Kensington area.
